PRINCIPAL SPACECRAFT SYSTEMS ENGINEER

Galactiv is looking for an experienced spacecraft systems engineer to support the development of our maiden servicing vehicle, diving into broad and minimally defined design spaces to effectively lead early design efforts.

 

Serving an integral role in the early phases of our technological developments, a candidate must be able to work independently in a position that will permit them to help shape our engineering team from its inception. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background across all spacecraft subsystems with specific knowledge in GN&C systems, satellite operations, and/or mission modeling.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Support the planning, development, review, and maintenance of system & subsystem requirements

  • Lead a cross-functional team of subsystem engineers responsible for overall system architecture including all design, analysis, and testing for our first-generation vehicle

  • Support technology integration for the development of space vehicles and missions

  • Prepare materials for system life cycle phasing and stakeholder presentations

  • Develop and maintain spacecraft recommended operating procedures

  • Work proactively and independently in a fast-paced and rapidly evolving environment

  • Assist in the integration of project management tools to facilitate the company’s growth

  • Maintain professional relationships with support contractors

  • Perform other tasks assigned to support engineering and business efforts

Preferred Skills/Experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Engineering, Space Science, or similar field

  • Work experience in a Systems Engineering role in an established Aerospace environment

  • Experience with requirements development and system analysis of space hardware

  • Experience in the development and operation of satellite or other spacecraft systems

  • Basic knowledge of commonly-used concepts/practices in the space hardware field

  • Ability to prepare written documents and verbally present deliverables

PROPULSION/FLUID SYSTEMS ENGINEER

Galactiv is looking for an experienced propulsion system engineer to support the development of a servicing vehicle that will be refueled on orbit. To succeed in this role, a candidate must thrive in ambiguity and possess the ability to lead their own projects to completion.

 

This position will work alongside a small mechanical and electrical design team, mission planning experts, management, and external suppliers throughout the full product lifecycle. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background with hands-on experience working with high-pressure fluid systems, preferably in spacecraft or rocket propulsion systems.

Responsibilities:

 

  • Act as component- & system-level responsible engineer and fluid system subject matter expert on various projects

  • Conduct trade studies to produce architectures & designs that satisfy system requirements

  • Participate in design & manufacturing reviews

  • Support procurement activities by performing initial sourcing, quoting, and supplier communications

  • Coordinate & execute development, qualification, and acceptance testing of flight hardware

  • Prepare materials for system life cycle phasing and stakeholder presentations

  • Work proactively and independently in a fast-paced and rapidly evolving environment

  • Perform other tasks assigned to support engineering and business efforts

Preferred Skills/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Engineering, Space Science, or similar field

  • Work experience in the design or analysis of high-pressure fluid systems in the aerospace field

  • Familiarity with common propulsion/fluid system components

  • Proficiency with various CAD software

  • Basic knowledge of commonly-used concepts/practices in the space hardware field

  • Capable of solving complex problems with little to no supervision

  • Ability to prepare written documents and verbally present deliverables
